The Skaters
Base of Operations: New York, New York
History: The history of the group called ‘The Skaters’ has very much to do with their leader, Ben Foster, who also goes by the name ‘Ace’.
Ben was abandoned by his birth mother when he was about 6 years old. But whereas most children are abandoned at a hospital or shopping mall, Ben’s mother left him in the subway. You would think that a six year old wondering alone on a subway would raise some eyebrows, but this was before Giuliani’s clean up of NYC and frankly, back then, people just didn’t care as much. So young Ben was still in the subway system late that night when a Morlock woman who could sense the existence of other mutants came across the boy. Even though his abilities hadn’t yet manifested themselves, she knew what he was and took him in.
Ben came into his own in the tunnels of New York, learning the survival skills (fighting, scavenging, hiding, navigation) that all Morlocks learn. And because he could physically pass as human, he was valued for his ability to retrieve things from the surface world.
It was in his fourteenth year that his abilities manifested and he honed them to a razors edge under the tutelage of various Morlocks. It was in this same year that the Bystanders started their raids. It was seeing his friends, his family, being beaten almost to death and then dragged away by cruel men that turned Ben’s fear of humans to hatred.
And so he abandoned the tunnels and began living on the surface again. He used his own mutant detection abilities to search out others like him, other mutants who could pass but for one reason or another feared/hated humans. And he preached to them, tapped into their fear and burgeoning hatred, forging them into a group that would lead the remaining Morlocks out of the tunnels to there rightful place on the surface world.
The humans would pay!

Name: Ben Foster (aka Ace)Age: 20Height: 6’0”Weight: 175 lbsMutant Factor Abilities: Empathic, Mutant Detection, Hypnotic VoicePsychological profile: Ben is a charismatic leader and even without his mutant abilities people would follow his lead. He is extremely intelligent and idealistic and leads his group by example. He would never ask them to do something he would not and they know this about him. If it weren’t for his absolute hatred of humans, he would have been a visionary the likes of Charles Xavier himself. |

Boombox |
Name: Matt Schiavenza (aka Boombox)Age: 17Height: 5’10”Weight: 163 lbsMutant Factor Abilities: Sound generation. The sound does not emanate from his vocal cords, rather it comes from a field that surround his entire body.Psychological profile: Boombox is a party animal, good time Charlie. He’s a pleasure seeker extraordinaire and doesn’t care much for anything, except for the ideology fed him by Ben. It is the combination of compulsive thrill seeking and racism that make him truly dangerous for he revels in the torment/torture of humans before striking the death blow. |

Eightball |
Name: Dan “Tiny” Ulster (aka Eightball)Age: 18Height: 6’4”Weight: 230 ‘bsMutant Factor: Precognition – Eightball can foresee possible futures but is limited to yes/no questions asked him by others. He can also deepen the pigment in his skin to become totally black, thereby becoming effectively invisible in shadows and poorly lit places.Psychological profile: Eightball is probably the brightest of all of the Skaters, save Ben himself. And it is due to his smarts as well as he precognitive abilities that Ben keeps Eightball close at hand for advice/predictions. Eightball tends to stay quiet, preferring to watch and observe. His racism is almost as strong as Ben’s because when his powers first manifested, he foresaw a time when mutants would be enslaved to humans. He shrugged it off as a waking nightmare. But the following year, he met Ben and learned of Genosha and the atrocities that took place there. Still he didn’t really believe it could come to pass her in the US but then the Bystanders started rounding people up, and Dan knew what he must do - he knew he’d have to stop the humans before they remade the US in Genosha’s image. |

Jet |
Name: Oscar Rodriguez (Jet)Age: 18Height: 6’2”Weight: 158 lbsMutant Factor Ability: Superspeed/Flight – Jet performs tasks at 40 times faster than a normal human. He can also fly at great speeds and can reach these speeds rather quickly. He cannot, however, hover in place. When using powers, his hair becomes a cold flame corona which effectively negates any chances of being stealthy.Psychological profile: Jet is the classic HDAD teen. His thoughts jump from one to the other and he can’t keep still. His best friend on the team is Boombox and together they dream up some particularly wicked pranks. Jet’s adherence to Ben’s ideology has to do with a warped take on evolution and social Darwinism. Jet just believes mutants are superior and should no longer hide in tunnels nor cower in the shadows. |

Payback |
Name: Josh Goldberg (aka Payback)Age: 19Height: 5’8”Weight: 145 lbsMutant Factor Ability: Reflection – Payback can reflect any physical or energy attack directed against him. However, he is completely vulnerable to psionic attacks.Psychological profile: Payback is the scrappy hothead of the group. He’s not necessarily quick to anger, he just likes to fight - the bigger the opponent, the better. Some would say he has short man’s syndrome, Payback would respond with, “Shut the fuck up and just fight!” |

Warp |
Name: Dave MacMahon (aka Warp)Age: 20Height: 6’0”Weight: 170 lbsMutant Factor: Plasticity - Warp can distort his body into any shape he can imagine. He can also extend any part of his body a maximum of ten feet.Psychological profile: Warp is the group merry maker. He tends to be the butt of their jokes but doesn’t mind ‘cause he doesn’t really take anything seriously.. He doesn’t really believe in the racist ideology (well not like the others) but this is his group, they took him in when no one else would and for that he will remain loyal to the end. |
A note on The Skaters’ physical capabilities: They are all physically fit. Each also has a keen sense of balance as they have honed these skills while practicing their skating.
