 Institute Biographical Profile:

Zachary and Susan Jacobs were both only eighteen when they had a baby boy. This destroyed their dreams of college and they were forced to marry and move in with each other right away. However, they made the best of things and raised Zane with a lot of love. He became a typical city kid and spent most of his days playing with others in his apartment complex or running around on the streets. He parents didn't really have the money to give him anything besides clothing, shelter, and food, but he didn't really notice the difference.

At the age of thirteen, Zane began to feel the usual sparks of teenage rebellion when his parents became more restrictive with his privileges. They gave him a curfew and always asked questions about where he was and who he was with. This only caused the young teen to begin sneaking out and hanging around the local bad boys. Of course they only committed a few petty crimes: some shoplifting here and there. He didn't really feel right about the activities, but his spirit for rebellion was much stronger than his sense of morality at this point.

His entire life changed when his mutation first activated. He and his friends were on the run from a store security guard who had just caught them breaking windows. While his friends ran one way, he had an idea and dodged into an alley hoping that the guard would pass by. Unfortunately, he only followed Zane. The young boy was trapped. The guard approached, brandishing his nightstick. Because of his panic and fear, Zane's power manifested. His field surrounded him and the brick wall he was backed up against received the full force of its repelling power. It crumbled on top of both of them. The youth's ability kept him safe, but the guard was not so lucky. After making his way out from under the rubble, Zane realized that he had just killed someone. He was a murdering freak.

He ran home and confessed everything to his parents. They knew that with the prejudice of mutants slowly growing, it would no longer be safe for Zane to stay in the city, but they had nowhere to take him and decided to keep him hidden until a solution could be found. Days later, after the death was reported, a letter arrived at their household informing them of an institute located just outside of New York City. It was a special school for gifted children. Children like Zane. Convinced that it was their only choice, they took their son to the school and left him there. They told him that they could never see each other again and that this was his new home. Zane didn't understand and took his parents departure as abandonment.

Growing up in the institute was a different experience, but the boy adapted quickly. After causing one death with his ability he vowed never to cause another and spent a great deal of time learning to control it. At first it was believed that he had a telekinesis, but it did not explain the strange, pale blue glow that surrounded him when he used his ability. After careful study and tests, it was discovered that he could generate and anti-gravity field that, while activated, repelled any and all physical objects that came in contact with it. Projectiles launched at him were bounced away with extreme force. With this field he could break through walls, physically attack others with a punch equal to a blow from someone with super human strength, and defy gravity effectively achieving flight. He also developed a stronger sense of what is right from his experiences, becoming an ideal future instructor for the school. Zane began to believe in the founder of the institute's dream for peaceful coexistence between humanity and mutant kind.

Institute Biological Profile:

Zane has no increased strength, stamina, or agility from his mutation, but, from physical training at the institute for years, he has the traits of a standard Olympic athlete.

 Institute Psychological Profile:

Zane's personality very much resembles his ability. After being abandoned at the institute, he began to guard himself from more rejection by pushing people away and trying to focus on developing his mutation. Since he was the first student of the institute, it was relatively easy to be alone when he wanted and he interacted only a little with the instructors.

After growing up this way, he took on the typical traits of a strong and silent leader. Zane is protective of team and always bases his decisions on his strong moral value and sense of justice. He can be brooding at times, but tries to be a good foundation for the others. Even though he doesn't show it, Zane can and has experienced the full range of human emotions. However, these emotions only manifest themselves in one of two ways: A casual happiness or a quiet depression.
